Greed, activity, undertaking of actions, restlessness, and longing—these arise when rajas is predominant, O best of the Bharatas.

Sanskrit

लोभः प्रवृत्तिरारम्भः कर्मणामशमः स्पृहा | रजस्येतानि जायन्ते विवृद्धे भरतर्षभ ||

Transliteration

lobhaḥ pravṛttir ārambhaḥ karmaṇām aśamaḥ spṛhā rajasy etāni jāyante vivṛddhe bharatarṣabha

Commentary

When rajas dominates, one experiences greed, compulsive activity, inability to rest, and constant desire. These are the telltale signs of the passionate mode.
