Chapter 15
Chapter 15: The Supreme Personपुरुषोत्तमयोग

15:16

There are two persons in this world—the perishable and the imperishable. All beings are perishable; the unchanging is called imperishable.

Sanskrit

द्वाविमौ पुरुषौ लोके क्षरश्चाक्षर एव च | क्षरः सर्वाणि भूतानि कूटस्थोऽक्षर उच्यते ||

Transliteration

dvāv imau puruṣau loke kṣaraś cākṣara eva ca kṣaraḥ sarvāṇi bhūtāni kūṭa-stho 'kṣara ucyate

Commentary

Krishna describes two categories: the perishable (all beings in their changing forms) and the imperishable (the unchanging essence or individual souls). This sets up the revelation of the third—the Supreme.
