“Foods that are bitter, sour, salty, very hot, pungent, dry, and burning are desired by the rajasic. They cause pain, grief, and disease.”

कट्वम्ललवणात्युष्णतीक्ष्णरूक्षविदाहिनः | आहारा राजसस्येष्टा दुःखशोकामयप्रदाः ||
Transliteration
kaṭv-amla-lavaṇāty-uṣṇa-tīkṣṇa-rūkṣa-vidāhinaḥ āhārā rājasasyeṣṭā duḥkha-śokāmaya-pradāḥ
Commentary
Rajasic people crave extreme foods—bitter, sour, salty, spicy, harsh, and stimulating. Such foods create discomfort, sorrow, and illness. They agitate rather than nourish.
