Chapter 18: Conclusionमोक्षसंन्यासयोग
18:22
“But that knowledge which clings to one single effect as if it were all, without reason, without basis in truth, and trivial—that is declared tamasic.”
Sanskrit
यत्तु कृत्स्नवदेकस्मिन्कार्ये सक्तमहैतुकम् | अतत्त्वार्थवदल्पं च तत्तामसमुदाहृतम् ||
Transliteration
yat tu kṛtsnavad ekasmin kārye saktam ahaitukam atattvārthavad alpaṁ ca tat tāmasam udāhṛtam
Commentary
Tamasic knowledge obsesses over one thing as if it were everything, lacks rational basis, misses truth, and is petty. It's the narrowest, most distorted form of understanding.
