“Hear now the threefold division of intelligence and of resolve according to the gunas, O Dhananjaya, as I explain them fully and separately.”
Sanskrit
बुद्धेर्भेदं धृतेश्चैव गुणतस्त्रिविधं शृणु | प्रोच्यमानमशेषेण पृथक्त्वेन धनञ्जय ||
Transliteration
buddher bhedaṁ dhṛteś caiva guṇatas tri-vidhaṁ śṛṇu procyamānam aśeṣeṇa pṛthaktvena dhanañjaya
Commentary
Krishna now describes intelligence (buddhi) and determination (dhṛti) in their three forms. These faculties determine how we understand and pursue our goals.
