“But that resolve by which one holds to dharma, pleasure, and wealth, with attachment and desire for rewards—that is rajasic, O Partha.”
Sanskrit
यया तु धर्मकामार्थान्धृत्या धारयतेऽर्जुन | प्रसङ्गेन फलाकाङ्क्षी धृतिः सा पार्थ राजसी ||
Transliteration
yayā tu dharma-kāmārthān dhṛtyā dhārayate 'rjuna prasaṅgena phalākāṅkṣī dhṛtiḥ sā pārtha rājasī
Commentary
Rajasic resolve pursues righteousness, pleasure, and prosperity but with attachment and expectation. It has direction but is compromised by desire for specific outcomes.
