“All beings are unmanifest before birth, manifest in the middle, and unmanifest again after death. What is there to lament, O Bharata?”

अव्यक्तादीनि भूतानि व्यक्तमध्यानि भारत | अव्यक्तनिधनान्येव तत्र का परिदेवना ||
Transliteration
avyaktādīni bhūtāni vyakta-madhyāni bhārata avyakta-nidhanāny eva tatra kā paridevanā
Commentary
Before birth we were unmanifest, during life we are manifest, and after death we return to the unmanifest. This natural cycle gives no cause for grief - we merely return to our original state.
