Chapter 2: Transcendental Knowledgeसांख्ययोग
2:33
“If, however, you do not perform your duty of fighting this righteous war, then you will certainly incur sin for neglecting your duties and lose your reputation as a warrior.”
Sanskrit
अथ चेत्त्वमिमं धर्म्यं सङ्ग्रामं न करिष्यसि | ततः स्वधर्मं कीर्तिं च हित्वा पापमवाप्स्यसि ||
Transliteration
atha cet tvam imaṁ dharmyaṁ saṅgrāmaṁ na kariṣyasi tataḥ sva-dharmaṁ kīrtiṁ ca hitvā pāpam avāpsyasi
Commentary
Refusing to fight would be worse than fighting. Arjuna would abandon his dharma, lose his honor, and incur sin through inaction. Sometimes not acting is the greater wrong.
