“Kings like Janaka attained perfection solely by the performance of action. You should also act, considering what is best for the welfare of the world.”
Sanskrit
कर्मणैव हि संसिद्धिमास्थिता जनकादयः | लोकसङ्ग्रहमेवापि सम्पश्यन्कर्तुमर्हसि ||
Transliteration
karmaṇaiva hi saṁsiddhim āsthitā janakādayaḥ loka-saṅgraham evāpi sampaśyan kartum arhasi
Commentary
King Janaka achieved liberation while ruling his kingdom. Action and enlightenment are not opposites. Leaders especially should act for the welfare of all, setting proper examples.
