“O descendant of Bharata, O conqueror of foes, all beings are born into delusion, overcome by the dualities arising from desire and aversion.”
Sanskrit
इच्छाद्वेषसमुत्थेन द्वन्द्वमोहेन भारत | सर्वभूतानि सम्मोहं सर्गे यान्ति परन्तप ||
Transliteration
icchā-dveṣa-samutthena dvandva-mohena bhārata sarva-bhūtāni sammohaṁ sarge yānti parantapa
Commentary
At birth, all beings enter a state of delusion caused by attraction and repulsion. These dualities—pleasure and pain, success and failure—cloud wisdom and prevent recognition of the Divine.
