Chapter 1: Arjuna's Dilemmaअर्जुनविषादयोग
1:35
“O Janardana, what pleasure will we derive from killing the sons of Dhritarashtra? Sin will only take hold of us if we slay these aggressors.”
Sanskrit
निहत्य धार्तराष्ट्रान्नः का प्रीतिः स्याज्जनार्दन | पापमेवाश्रयेदस्मान्हत्वैतानाततायिनः ||
Transliteration
nihatya dhārtarāṣṭrān naḥ kā prītiḥ syāj janārdana pāpam evāśrayed asmān hatvaitān ātatāyinaḥ
Commentary
Arjuna argues that killing the Kauravas, even though they are aggressors, will bring only sin and no satisfaction. He sees no moral victory in such a battle.
