“Among the Sama hymns, I am the Brihat-sama; among meters, I am Gayatri; among months, I am Margashirsha; among seasons, I am flower-bearing spring.”
Sanskrit
बृहत्साम तथा साम्नां गायत्री छन्दसामहम् | मासानां मार्गशीर्षोऽहमृतूनां कुसुमाकरः ||
Transliteration
bṛhat-sāma tathā sāmnāṁ gāyatrī chandasām aham māsānāṁ mārgaśīrṣo 'ham ṛtūnāṁ kusumākaraḥ
Commentary
The most melodious Sama hymn, the sacred Gayatri meter, the auspicious month Margashirsha, and beautiful spring—each represents divine excellence.
