13:20
“Know that both nature and the person are beginningless; and know that the modifications and the qualities arise from nature.”
Sanskrit
प्रकृतिं पुरुषं चैव विद्ध्यनादी उभावपि | विकारांश्च गुणांश्चैव विद्धि प्रकृतिसम्भवान् ||
Transliteration
prakṛtiṁ puruṣaṁ caiva viddhy anādī ubhāv api vikārāṁś ca guṇāṁś caiva viddhi prakṛti-sambhavān
Commentary
Both prakṛti (nature) and puruṣa (consciousness) are eternal and beginningless. All transformations and the three gunas (qualities) are products of nature, not of the eternal conscious self.
