“Dispassion toward sense objects, absence of ego, and perception of the evil in birth, death, old age, disease, and suffering—”

इन्द्रियार्थेषु वैराग्यमनहङ्कार एव च | जन्ममृत्युजराव्याधिदुःखदोषानुदर्शनम् ||
Transliteration
indriyārtheṣu vairāgyam anahaṅkāra eva ca janma-mṛtyu-jarā-vyādhi-duḥkha-doṣānudarśanam
Commentary
True knowledge includes detachment from sensory pleasures, freedom from ego, and clear perception of the inherent suffering in material existence. This realistic view motivates spiritual seeking.
