“Presiding over hearing, sight, touch, taste, smell, and also the mind, he experiences the sense objects.”
Sanskrit
श्रोत्रं चक्षुः स्पर्शनं च रसनं घ्राणमेव च | अधिष्ठाय मनश्चायं विषयानुपसेवते ||
Transliteration
śrotraṁ cakṣuḥ sparśanaṁ ca rasanaṁ ghrāṇam eva ca adhiṣṭhāya manaś cāyaṁ viṣayān upasevate
Commentary
The soul, using hearing, sight, touch, taste, smell, and mind as instruments, experiences the various sense objects. The soul is the experiencer; the senses are merely tools.
