16:4
“Hypocrisy, arrogance, pride, anger, harshness, and ignorance—these belong to one born for the demonic estate, O Partha.”
Sanskrit
दम्भो दर्पोऽभिमानश्च क्रोधः पारुष्यमेव च | अज्ञानं चाभिजातस्य पार्थ सम्पदमासुरीम् ||
Transliteration
dambho darpo 'bhimānaś ca krodhaḥ pāruṣyam eva ca ajñānaṁ cābhijātasya pārtha sampadam āsurīm
Commentary
In contrast, demonic qualities include pretense, conceit, vanity, rage, cruelty, and delusion. These lead to bondage and suffering. Recognizing them in oneself enables transformation.
