“But sacrifice performed for the sake of reward or for show, O best of Bharatas—know that to be rajasic.”

अभिसन्धाय तु फलं दम्भार्थमपि चैव यत् | इज्यते भरतश्रेष्ठ तं यज्ञं विद्धि राजसम् ||
Transliteration
abhisandhāya tu phalaṁ dambhārtham api caiva yat ijyate bharata-śreṣṭha taṁ yajñaṁ viddhi rājasam
Commentary
Rajasic sacrifice is performed with expectations of results or for public display and recognition. The motivation is selfish gain or social status, not devotion.
