“Food also is of three kinds, dear to each type. So too are sacrifice, austerity, and charity. Hear the distinction among them.”

आहारस्त्वपि सर्वस्य त्रिविधो भवति प्रियः | यज्ञस्तपस्तथा दानं तेषां भेदमिमं शृणु ||
Transliteration
āhāras tv api sarvasya trividho bhavati priyaḥ yajñas tapas tathā dānaṁ teṣāṁ bhedam imaṁ śṛṇu
Commentary
Krishna now explains how food, worship, austerity, and giving are classified according to the three gunas. Each person's preferences reveal their inner nature.
