Chapter 18: Conclusionमोक्षसंन्यासयोग
18:38
“That which arises from contact of senses with objects, which is like nectar at first but like poison in the end—that happiness is considered rajasic.”
Sanskrit
विषयेन्द्रियसंयोगाद्यत्तदग्रेऽमृतोपमम् | परिणामे विषमिव तत्सुखं राजसं स्मृतम् ||
Transliteration
viṣayendriya-saṁyogād yat tad agre 'mṛtopamam pariṇāme viṣam iva tat sukhaṁ rājasaṁ smṛtam
Commentary
Rajasic happiness comes from sensory enjoyment—sweet initially but eventually bitter. Pleasure from objects leads to attachment, craving, and ultimately suffering.
