“That happiness which deludes the self both in the beginning and in the sequel, arising from sleep, laziness, and negligence—that is declared tamasic.”

यदग्रे चानुबन्धे च सुखं मोहनमात्मनः | निद्रालस्यप्रमादोत्थं तत्तामसमुदाहृतम् ||
Transliteration
yad agre cānubandhe ca sukhaṁ mohanam ātmanaḥ nidrālasya-pramādotthaṁ tat tāmasam udāhṛtam
Commentary
Tamasic happiness is delusional throughout—from excessive sleep, sloth, and carelessness. It never provides real satisfaction, only numbness and continued ignorance.
