“Heroism, vigor, resolve, skill, not fleeing in battle, generosity, and leadership—these are the kshatriya's duties, born of their nature.”
Sanskrit
शौर्यं तेजो धृतिर्दाक्ष्यं युद्धे चाप्यपलायनम् | दानमीश्वरभावश्च क्षात्रं कर्म स्वभावजम् ||
Transliteration
śauryaṁ tejo dhṛtir dākṣyaṁ yuddhe cāpy apalāyanam dānam īśvara-bhāvaś ca kṣātraṁ karma svabhāva-jam
Commentary
Those of kshatriya nature are suited to protection, leadership, and governance. Their qualities include courage, energy, determination, and magnanimity.
