“O Bharata, the soul dwelling in the body of everyone is eternal and can never be slain. Therefore, you should not grieve for any living being.”
Sanskrit
देही नित्यमवध्योऽयं देहे सर्वस्य भारत | तस्मात्सर्वाणि भूतानि न त्वं शोचितुमर्हसि ||
Transliteration
dehī nityam avadhyo 'yaṁ dehe sarvasya bhārata tasmāt sarvāṇi bhūtāni na tvaṁ śocitum arhasi
Commentary
This verse concludes the section on the soul's eternality. Since the soul in every body is indestructible, there is no reason to grieve for anyone. The real self is beyond harm.
