Chapter 2: Transcendental Knowledgeसांख्ययोग
2:31
“Considering your specific duty as a warrior, you should not waver. For a warrior, there is nothing more honorable than a righteous battle.”
Sanskrit
स्वधर्ममपि चावेक्ष्य न विकम्पितुमर्हसि | धर्म्याद्धि युद्धाच्छ्रेयोऽन्यत्क्षत्रियस्य न विद्यते ||
Transliteration
sva-dharmam api cāvekṣya na vikampitum arhasi dharmyād dhi yuddhāc chreyo 'nyat kṣatriyasya na vidyate
Commentary
Krishna now shifts to the argument from duty (dharma). As a kshatriya (warrior), fighting for righteousness is Arjuna's sacred obligation. No higher duty exists for him than this just war.
