“Full of desires and aspiring for heaven, they prescribe various rituals for attaining pleasure and power, leading to rebirth as the result of their actions.”
Sanskrit
कामात्मानः स्वर्गपरा जन्मकर्मफलप्रदाम् | क्रियाविशेषबहुलां भोगैश्वर्यगतिं प्रति ||
Transliteration
kāmātmānaḥ svarga-parā janma-karma-phala-pradām kriyā-viśeṣa-bahulāṁ bhogaiśvarya-gatiṁ prati
Commentary
Those driven by desires perform elaborate rituals seeking heavenly pleasures and power. But such actions, motivated by selfish desires, only lead to more births - not liberation.
