Chapter 2: Transcendental Knowledgeसांख्ययोग
2:67
“As a strong wind sweeps away a boat on the water, even one of the roaming senses on which the mind focuses can carry away a person's intelligence.”
Sanskrit
इन्द्रियाणां हि चरतां यन्मनोऽनुविधीयते | तदस्य हरति प्रज्ञां वायुर्नावमिवाम्भसि ||
Transliteration
indriyāṇāṁ hi caratāṁ yan mano 'nuvidhīyate tad asya harati prajñāṁ vāyur nāvam ivāmbhasi
Commentary
Just one uncontrolled sense, like a powerful wind, can carry away wisdom as easily as a storm sweeps away a boat. This vivid image warns of the danger of even partial sense indulgence.
