“In the beginning of creation, the Creator, along with the spirit of sacrifice, created mankind and said, 'By this sacrifice shall you prosper; let it be the wish-fulfilling cow.'”
Sanskrit
सहयज्ञाः प्रजाः सृष्ट्वा पुरोवाच प्रजापतिः | अनेन प्रसविष्यध्वमेष वोऽस्त्विष्टकामधुक् ||
Transliteration
saha-yajñāḥ prajāḥ sṛṣṭvā purovāca prajāpatiḥ anena prasaviṣyadhvam eṣa vo 'stv iṣṭa-kāma-dhuk
Commentary
The Creator established sacrifice as the means of prosperity. This cosmic principle of giving and receiving sustains the universe. Life itself is meant to be lived in the spirit of offering.
