Chapter 4: Path of Knowledgeज्ञानकर्मसंन्यासयोग
4:18
“One who sees inaction in action and action in inaction is wise among people. Such a person is a yogi and has accomplished all actions.”
Sanskrit
कर्मण्यकर्म यः पश्येदकर्मणि च कर्म यः | स बुद्धिमान्मनुष्येषु स युक्तः कृत्स्नकर्मकृत् ||
Transliteration
karmaṇy akarma yaḥ paśyed akarmaṇi ca karma yaḥ sa buddhimān manuṣyeṣu sa yuktaḥ kṛtsna-karma-kṛt
Commentary
This paradoxical verse points to transcendent understanding. The wise see that ego-driven activity is spiritually inactive, while being still in consciousness can be the highest action. True perception reverses ordinary understanding.
