“Those who partake of the nectar of the remnants of sacrifice go to the eternal Brahman. O best of the Kurus, this world is not for one who makes no sacrifice, let alone the next.”
Sanskrit
यज्ञशिष्टामृतभुजो यान्ति ब्रह्म सनातनम् | नायं लोकोऽस्त्ययज्ञस्य कुतोऽन्यः कुरुसत्तम ||
Transliteration
yajña-śiṣṭāmṛta-bhujo yānti brahma sanātanam nāyaṁ loko 'sty ayajñasya kuto 'nyaḥ kuru-sattama
Commentary
Those who live by the sacred remnants of sacrifice attain the eternal. Without sacrifice, even this world becomes inhospitable - how much more the next? Sacrifice is essential to life.
