The self-controlled embodied being, mentally renouncing all actions, resides happily in the city of nine gates, neither acting nor causing action.

Sanskrit

सर्वकर्माणि मनसा संन्यस्यास्ते सुखं वशी | नवद्वारे पुरे देही नैव कुर्वन्न कारयन् ||

Transliteration

sarva-karmāṇi manasā sannyasyāste sukhaṁ vaśī nava-dvāre pure dehī naiva kurvan na kārayan

Commentary

The body with its nine openings (two eyes, two ears, two nostrils, mouth, and two lower openings) is like a city where the soul resides. The wise live there peacefully, detached from action.
