“The yogi is greater than the ascetic, greater than the scholar, and greater than the ritualist. Therefore, O Arjuna, be a yogi!”
Sanskrit
तपस्विभ्योऽधिको योगी ज्ञानिभ्योऽपि मतोऽधिकः | कर्मिभ्यश्चाधिको योगी तस्माद्योगी भवार्जुन ||
Transliteration
tapasvibhyo 'dhiko yogī jñānibhyo 'pi mato 'dhikaḥ karmibhyaś cādhiko yogī tasmād yogī bhavārjuna
Commentary
Krishna declares the yogi superior to those who rely solely on austerity, intellectual knowledge, or ritual action. He urges Arjuna to become a yogi.
