“Deluded by these three modes of nature, the whole world does not know Me, who am above these modes and imperishable.”
Sanskrit
त्रिभिर्गुणमयैर्भावैरेभिः सर्वमिदं जगत् | मोहितं नाभिजानाति मामेभ्यः परमव्ययम् ||
Transliteration
tribhir guṇa-mayair bhāvair ebhiḥ sarvam idaṁ jagat mohitaṁ nābhijānāti mām ebhyaḥ param avyayam
Commentary
The modes create a veil that obscures knowledge of God. Caught up in goodness, passion, or ignorance, beings fail to perceive the transcendent reality beyond all material qualities.
