“Four kinds of virtuous people worship Me, O Arjuna: the distressed, the seekers of knowledge, the seekers of wealth, and the wise.”
Sanskrit
चतुर्विधा भजन्ते मां जनाः सुकृतिनोऽर्जुन | आर्तो जिज्ञासुरर्थार्थी ज्ञानी च भरतर्षभ ||
Transliteration
catur-vidhā bhajante māṁ janāḥ sukṛtino 'rjuna ārto jijñāsur arthārthī jñānī ca bharatarṣabha
Commentary
Devotees approach God for different reasons. Some come in distress, some seeking knowledge, some wanting prosperity, and some with wisdom. All are praiseworthy, as they turn to the Divine.
