Chapter 12: Path of Devotionभक्तियोग
12:1
“Arjuna said: Those devotees who are constantly engaged in worshipping You with devotion, and those who worship the imperishable, unmanifest Brahman—which of these are better versed in yoga?”
Sanskrit
अर्जुन उवाच | एवं सततयुक्ता ये भक्तास्त्वां पर्युपासते | ये चाप्यक्षरमव्यक्तं तेषां के योगवित्तमाः ||
Transliteration
arjuna uvāca evaṁ satata-yuktā ye bhaktās tvāṁ paryupāsate ye cāpy akṣaram avyaktaṁ teṣāṁ ke yoga-vittamāḥ
Commentary
Arjuna asks a fundamental question: is devotion to the personal God or meditation on the impersonal Absolute the superior path? This question addresses different spiritual temperaments.
