“Knowledge, the object of knowledge, and the knower—these three impel action. The instrument, the action, and the agent—these three constitute the basis of action.”

ज्ञानं ज्ञेयं परिज्ञाता त्रिविधा कर्मचोदना | करणं कर्म कर्तेति त्रिविधः कर्मसङ्ग्रहः ||
Transliteration
jñānaṁ jñeyaṁ parijñātā trividhā karma-codanā karaṇaṁ karma karteti trividhaḥ karma-saṅgrahaḥ
Commentary
Action is prompted by three: knowledge, its object, and the knower. Action rests on three: instrument, activity, and doer. This analysis reveals action's complexity beyond simple ego-authorship.
