“O mighty-armed one, one who knows the truth about the divisions of the modes and their functions does not become attached, understanding that it is the modes interacting with modes.”

तत्त्ववित्तु महाबाहो गुणकर्मविभागयोः | गुणा गुणेषु वर्तन्त इति मत्वा न सज्जते ||
Transliteration
tattva-vit tu mahā-bāho guṇa-karma-vibhāgayoḥ guṇā guṇeṣu vartanta iti matvā na sajjate
Commentary
The wise perceive that the gunas (modes of nature) interact with each other - senses with sense objects. Seeing this, they remain detached, knowing the self is not the actor.
