The Supreme Lord said: To you who are free from envy, I shall now reveal this most confidential knowledge along with its realization, knowing which you shall be freed from all misery.

This knowledge is the king of all knowledge, the most secret of all secrets. It is the purest and most sublime, directly perceived, righteous, joyful to practice, and eternal.

Those who have no faith in this dharma, O scorcher of foes, do not attain Me and return to the path of death and rebirth.

By Me, in My unmanifested form, this entire universe is pervaded. All beings are in Me, but I am not in them.

And yet beings do not dwell in Me. Behold My divine yoga! My Self is the source of all beings and sustains all beings, yet does not dwell in them.

As the mighty wind, moving everywhere, rests eternally in space, so all beings rest in Me. Understand this.

O son of Kunti, at the end of the cosmic cycle, all beings merge into My material nature. At the beginning of the next creation, I manifest them again.

Taking control of My own material nature, I create again and again this entire multitude of beings, helpless under the influence of nature.

O Dhananjaya, these actions do not bind Me. I remain neutral, seated as if unconcerned, unattached to these activities.

Under My supervision, material nature produces all moving and non-moving beings. Because of this, O son of Kunti, the world revolves.

Fools disregard Me when I descend in human form, not knowing My transcendental nature as the Supreme Lord of all beings.

Those of vain hopes, vain actions, and vain knowledge, being bewildered, take shelter of the demonic and atheistic nature, which deludes them.

But great souls, O Partha, taking shelter of the divine nature, worship Me with undivided mind, knowing Me as the imperishable source of all beings.

Always chanting My glories, striving with firm resolve, bowing before Me with devotion, ever united with Me, they worship Me.

Others worship Me through the sacrifice of knowledge, seeing Me as one, as separate, and as the universal form facing everywhere.

I am the ritual, I am the sacrifice, I am the offering to ancestors, I am the healing herb, I am the mantra, I am the clarified butter, I am the fire, and I am the oblation.

I am the father of this universe, the mother, the sustainer, and the grandfather. I am the object of knowledge, the purifier, the syllable Om, and the Rig, Sama, and Yajur Vedas.

I am the goal, the sustainer, the master, the witness, the abode, the refuge, the friend, the origin, the dissolution, the foundation, the resting place, and the imperishable seed.

I give heat, I withhold and send forth rain. I am immortality and also death, existence and non-existence, O Arjuna.

Those who study the three Vedas, who drink soma and are purified of sins, worshipping Me through sacrifices, pray for passage to heaven. They reach the holy world of Indra and enjoy celestial pleasures.

Having enjoyed that vast heavenly world, when their merit is exhausted, they return to the mortal realm. Thus, following the Vedic rituals, desiring sense pleasures, they attain only repeated coming and going.

Those who worship Me with exclusive devotion, meditating on My transcendental form, to them I carry what they lack and preserve what they have.

Those devotees who worship other gods with faith, they also worship Me alone, O son of Kunti, though not according to the proper method.

I am the only enjoyer and lord of all sacrifices. But they do not know Me in truth, and therefore they fall.

Worshippers of the gods go to the gods; worshippers of ancestors go to the ancestors; worshippers of spirits go to spirits; but My devotees come to Me.

If one offers Me with devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or water, I accept that offering of love from the pure-hearted.

Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer or give away, whatever austerities you perform—do that as an offering to Me.

In this way, you shall be freed from the bondage of action and its good and bad results. With your mind fixed on Me through renunciation, you shall be liberated and come to Me.

I am equal to all beings; no one is hateful or dear to Me. But those who worship Me with devotion are in Me, and I am in them.

Even if a person of very bad conduct worships Me with exclusive devotion, they are to be regarded as righteous, for they have rightly resolved.

Quickly they become righteous and attain lasting peace. O son of Kunti, declare boldly that My devotee never perishes.

O Partha, taking refuge in Me, even those of sinful birth, women, merchants, and laborers—they too attain the supreme destination.

How much more then the pious brahmanas and devoted royal sages! Having come to this temporary, joyless world, worship Me.

Absorb your mind in Me, become My devotee, worship Me, and bow to Me. Thus engaged fully in Me, you will surely come to Me.
